Why Work With a Luxury Travel Advisor in Oakville
I get asked this question more often than you might think: “Why would I use a travel advisor when I can book everything online?”
It’s a fair question. You can absolutely book a hotel room in a few clicks. But a luxury trip is so much more than a reservation. It’s the right suite with the right view, a table at the restaurant everyone wants, a driver waiting when you land, and someone in your corner if a flight is cancelled at midnight.
I’ve been designing travel since 2012, and in that time I’ve learned that the difference between a nice vacation and an unforgettable one is almost always in the details. Here’s what working with a luxury travel advisor really looks like, and why so many of my clients in Oakville and across the GTA wouldn’t plan another trip on their own.
H2 Travel Planned Around You, Not a Template
Every trip I design begins with a conversation, not a booking engine. I want to know how you love to travel. Do you prefer a buzzing city or a quiet villa? Are you celebrating a milestone, bringing three generations together, or finally taking the trip you’ve talked about for years? Do you want every day planned, or room to wander?
From there, I build an itinerary that reflects you: the hotels, the pace, the experiences and the little touches that make a trip feel personal. No cookie-cutter packages, and no scrolling through hundreds of reviews at 11 p.m.
H2 Insider Access You Won’t Find Online
Great travel is built on relationships. Over the years I’ve built connections with hotels, resorts, cruise lines and trusted partners on the ground, and those relationships open doors. That might mean a private guide who knows a city’s hidden corners, a reservation that “wasn’t available,” or a hotel team that knows you’re arriving for your anniversary.
My recommendations also come from experience, not a brochure. I lived in Copenhagen for three years and explored Europe from there, I’ve travelled to most of the Caribbean islands (St. Lucia is still my favourite), and I’m always discovering new hotels and ships so I can tell you honestly what’s worth it. [ERICA: optional, add one property or destination you visited this year]
H2 The Virtuoso Difference
I’m proud to be a Virtuoso advisor, as an independent affiliate of First in Service Travel Canada. Virtuoso is a by-invitation network of leading luxury travel advisors and hand-picked hotels, cruise lines and tour partners, and every partner, and every agency, is carefully vetted.
What does that mean for you? When I book a Virtuoso partner hotel, my clients typically enjoy extras such as:
Daily breakfast for two
A room upgrade on arrival, when available
Early check-in and late check-out, when available
A hotel credit (typically US$100 per stay) for dining or the spa
A special amenity unique to the property
On many Virtuoso cruise sailings, you may also receive shipboard credit, exclusive shore excursions, a welcome reception and a dedicated onboard host. Benefits vary by property and sailing, but they add real value to your trip, and they aren’t something you’ll find booking on your own online.
H2 Your Time Is the Ultimate Luxury
Planning a trip of this calibre can take dozens of hours: researching, comparing, booking, coordinating transfers and confirming every detail. When you work with me, you hand all of that over. You get thoughtful recommendations, a seamless itinerary and the confidence that nothing has been overlooked. And you get your evenings back.
H2 Someone in Your Corner Before, During and After
Plans change. Flights are delayed, the weather shifts, and sometimes life simply gets in the way. When it does, you’re not on hold with a call centre. You have me. I look after my clients before, during and after every trip, and I’ll be the one working on a solution while you focus on enjoying yourself.
It’s also why I talk with every client about travel insurance. With the way the world is changing, protecting your investment matters more than ever, and I’ll help you choose coverage that fits your trip.
Expertise That Comes From Experience
Before travel, I spent several years at TD Bank managing customer service, mortgages and training and development, and that background still shapes how I work: organized, detail-oriented and focused on the people I’m looking after. Today I specialize in luxury and experiential travel, group escapes and cruising, and I’m a specialist for St. Lucia, Jamaica, Barbados, the Cayman Islands and Costa Rica.
In 2022, I was honoured to be named Top Producing Travel Advisor in Canada for Jamaica Inn, an intimate Virtuoso property in Ocho Rios. And this past spring, I joined a Virtuoso advisor panel in Toronto to share what today’s luxury travellers are looking for.
Still, the recognition I value most is simple: “There is no better compliment than repeat business or a referral. I treat every vacation as if it were my own family travelling.”
